Well, another year of extreme weather rather than extreme climbing, at the 2010 NZ Alpine Club climbing camp up the Matukituki River from Wanaka. We've GOT to try holding it at the end of January rather than the beginning. However a good time had by all - some ascents, much yarning, and a fair amount of cowering in the Kiwitub while the nor'wester blasted through with torrential rain. We also had a hot shower for the participants - that's the bucket with holes in slung under the fly. A Kiwitub burner heating a plastic barrel provided hot washing-up water for the 100 or so campers, a bucket of which gave a good six-minute shower. Shelagh's 4WD brought in the tub.
